The FINEST of Independent Cinema

Unless you live in the state of New York, there is a big chance Buffalo would not instantly remind you of its second largest city. More likely you will be thinking of this ol’ chap:

However, Buffalo I am talking about is the city in the state of New York, a hometown of Vincent Gallo who ventured into the movie making business with his independent cinema project Buffalo 66. Gallo wrote and directed the movie, performed much of the music and played a main male role of Billy Brown, ex-convict just released from prison after serving a five years sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. He is accompanied by Christina Ricci, impersonating Layla, dance class student kidnapped from the dance floor and introduced to Brown’s parents (Ben Gazzara & Anjelica Huston) as his girlfriend.

Even though the movie appeared somewhere in 1998, there is still a chance to see it on the big screen. Your gratitude can go to Het Nutshuis and their Wednesday cinema program.

Het Nutshuis, Riviervismarkt 5, Wednesday 22 October 2014, 8pm, 5 euro. Will you be there?
