STAY GIPSY

While wandering and wondering thinking of the best ways to open the weekend in the Hague, Est Est Est and their Gipsy Django Jazz Night came first to my mind. Balkan trio led by Giani Lincan on cimbalom starts to groove the place after dinner (yes, you can eat there).

Giani_Lincan_TrioThe cimbalom player Giani Lincan comes from a Romanian family that was tied to gipsy music for ages. His grandfather thought him the first chords on cimbalom at the age of five after which he continued with his musical education in Romanian prestige schools. Apart from classical music, Lincan gives outstanding performances in a variety of genres, including folk, jazz and gipsy styles. According to Last Fm, as a universal musician, with an inimitable sound and a clear musical individuality, Lincan offers his audiences performances of “uncommon and memorable quality”.

Est Est Est, Wagenstraat 144, Friday 22 February, 8:30pm until… the chordophone strings stop vibrating.
