HOOGTIJ – Cultural route through The Hague
In this year’s last edition of Hoogtij, 13 galleries and art institutions are opening their doors. Start the journey @Gemak, 18h (Paviljoensgracht 20-24) with a cup of soup and then continue to Operandi (check the previous post). After that visit one of the 13 places that are marked on this map.
Het Nutshuis is screening special selection of shorts, docs, animation, videos made by students of KABK, Rietveld, WdKA, Akv St Joost.
Galerie Maurits van de Laar (Riviervismarkt 5) displays works on paper and drawings by Sebastiaan Schlicher. Then, there is Rosa Sijben’s exhibition Getting Stuff Done in |elders, Kranestraat 72. Continue to the spot marked with number 3, gallery West @ Groenewegje 136 for the exhibition of John Wood and Paul Harrison: Unrelated Incidents. The next on the road is the space in Maasstraat 224 where the work ‘Both Someone Else’ by Samara Mitri & Gitte Hendrikx can be found. It’s part of In Your Livingroom project, exhibitions held outside the institution and inside the domestic sphere. This initiative comes from group of KABK students that decided to use their own home as presentation space for contemporary arts.
Next stop is the gallery Walden Affairs at Zuidwal 52. Dutch artist Maarten Overdijk (1977) creates art using range of media including sculpture, installation and painting.
ANNA @ BH139 is transformed into an artistic barbershop. You can see the exhibition The Art of Looking while your hair is being cut by Haagsche Kopjes. MOOD FOOD DJ provides the music. Everyone is welcome!
Also check JCA DE KOK, Lange beestenmarkt 99 and RUIMTEVAART @ Loosduinseweg 9. On this location you’ll get the chance to see Macrofiche by BMB con. featuring Ad van der Koog. BMBcon performs using sound, film, video and physical action. Fun!
In Galerie Helder, Tasmanstraat 188, there is exhibition Let me tell you a story! and in Arte sin limites, Anna Pauwlownastraat 71, paintings, spatial work, photo collages, Ipad and ink drawings on satin form the exhibition Public Intimacy.
Finally, don’t forget Stoorm, Hogewal 1-9 where there is ongoing artwork Expanded Performance. Check out the lectures, concerts and other performances encouraging the audience to actively participate in making art.
