Once there was a Hushpuppy

Beasts of the Southern Wild, by Benh Zeitlin based on a one-act play “Juicy and Delicious” by Lucy Alibar. Poetic and surreal, filmed with handheld at times out of focus camera. The story is inspired by Hurricane Katrina and is narrated by six years old Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis), living with her hard-drinking father Wink (Dwight Henry) in a bayou community Bathtub.
